A Jasper County grand jury has brought charges against a man from Buna, accused of engaging in sexual contact with a 6-year-old child. The individual, Daniel Parker, 20, faces a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact, which is classified as a second-degree felony.
The indictment comes after Parker was arrested in May following an investigation by Jasper County authorities. A warrant was issued related to an alleged incident that took place on April 26 on County Road 871 in Buna.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Investigator David Lampman traveled to Nederland on May 4 and arrested Parker at his workplace after the warrant was issued earlier that day.
Authorities claim that during the incident in April, Parker had sexual contact with a 6-year-old child. Following his arrest, Parker appeared in Jefferson County court before being taken to the Jasper County Jail.
It is important to note that an indictment is a formal accusation and does not serve as evidence of guilt. Parker is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The case is expected to move forward through the Jasper County court system. As more information becomes available, updates will be provided.
