Port St. Lucie Seeks Artist for Landmark Sculpture at New Regional Park

Port St. Lucie is currently seeking an artist to create a landmark sculpture that will serve as the centerpiece of the city’s largest park. The application deadline is set for Wednesday at 3 p.m., giving interested artists a final opportunity to submit their proposals.

The sculpture will be located at the main entrance of the future Torino Regional Park, a 195-acre project situated in the northern part of the city. The park is expected to open next June and will feature a variety of recreational spaces, including trails, playgrounds, open green areas, and fields for sports activities. It is designed to be a welcoming space for families and visitors from across the region.

The city officially broke ground on the project in December 2025, marking the beginning of a major development effort aimed at enhancing public outdoor spaces in the area. Recent renderings released by the city provide a glimpse into what the park will look like when it opens, showcasing its natural beauty and planned amenities.

The entrance sculpture is intended to reflect the park’s “fairytale forest” theme, creating a magical and inviting atmosphere for all who enter. This artistic element will serve as a signature feature, helping to define the park’s identity and make a lasting impression on visitors.

Scott Samples, a representative from the City of Port St. Lucie, emphasized the importance of the sculpture in shaping the park’s overall experience. “This is going to be sort of the gateway to what will be our largest park, when it’s completed,” he said in a statement to CBS12 News. “It’s going to be something that is magical. Families are going to be gathering there from all over the region, so we really want something that is welcoming.”

The city is looking for an artist who can bring this vision to life, creating a piece that not only complements the park’s design but also enhances the sense of wonder and discovery that the space aims to inspire.

Key Details About the Project

  • Location: North Port St. Lucie
  • Size: 195 acres
  • Expected Opening: Next June
  • Features: Trails, playgrounds, open green space, and recreational sports fields
  • Sculpture Theme: “Fairytale forest”
  • Deadline for Applications: Wednesday at 3 p.m.

What to Expect From the Sculpture

The sculpture will play a crucial role in defining the park’s entrance, serving as both an artistic focal point and a symbol of the community’s commitment to public art and outdoor recreation. It is expected to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape while offering a unique and memorable experience for visitors.

City officials have emphasized the need for a design that reflects the park’s whimsical and enchanting character. This means the chosen artist will need to consider elements such as scale, materials, and visual impact to ensure the sculpture aligns with the overall vision for the park.

How to Apply

Interested artists are encouraged to submit their proposals before the deadline. While specific details about the application process were not provided, the city has indicated that more information will be available for those who wish to participate in the selection process.
