ATHENS, WV – Concord University Athletics is set to receive a major upgrade in the coming months. A significant contribution from GoMart has been announced, with a $150,000 donation aimed at installing a new LED full-color video scoreboard at Callaghan Stadium. This state-of-the-art display will be 22 feet wide and will be placed next to the current scoreboard, marking a notable enhancement for the campus community.

The installation of this new scoreboard is expected to greatly improve the fan experience during athletic events. Athletic Director Luke Duffy expressed his excitement about the project, emphasizing its potential to elevate the student athlete experience in Athens.

“It gets the fans closer to the action. We can do replays [with this]. We may venture into the kiss cam world [and we can] highlight everything that we have got going on on campus. I think we are doing some amazing things. So, you know, really bringing the fans closer to not just the action on the field, but the action on campus as well.”

This modern scoreboard will not only enhance the viewing experience for spectators but also provide a platform for showcasing the university’s activities and achievements. The addition of features like replays and interactive elements such as a kiss cam could make games more engaging and entertaining for fans.

The new scoreboard is scheduled to be unveiled during the September 5, 2026 game against Bluefield State University. This event will mark a milestone for Concord University and serve as a celebration of the partnership between the university and GoMart.

Duffy and other leaders at Concord have expressed their gratitude for GoMart’s support, acknowledging the positive impact this donation will have on the campus and the broader community. The collaboration highlights the importance of local businesses in supporting educational institutions and enhancing the overall experience for students and fans alike.

With this upgrade, Concord University continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence in athletics and campus life. The new scoreboard represents more than just a technological advancement; it symbolizes the university’s dedication to providing a vibrant and engaging environment for students, athletes, and fans.

As the date for the unveiling approaches, anticipation is building among the campus community and local residents. The new scoreboard is expected to become a focal point of the stadium, drawing attention and excitement for every game played there.

In addition to the scoreboard, the university is exploring other ways to enhance the fan experience and promote school spirit. These efforts reflect a broader vision for the future of Concord University Athletics, where innovation and community engagement go hand in hand.

Overall, the installation of the new LED scoreboard is a testament to the collaborative spirit between the university and its partners. It sets the stage for an exciting era of growth and development in Concord University Athletics, ensuring that both students and fans continue to enjoy top-notch experiences for years to come.
