New Content Update for ‘The First Descendant’ Brings Exciting Changes

Nexon, co-led by Kang Dae-hyun and Kim Jung-wook, has announced a major content update for its looter shooter game ‘The First Descendant,’ developed by its subsidiary Nexon Games. The update introduces new features, balance adjustments, and various quality-of-life improvements to enhance the player experience.

Introducing ‘Void Intercept Battle: Extreme’

One of the most anticipated additions in this update is the new end-game content called ‘Void Intercept Battle: Extreme.’ This feature combines the previous ‘Hard Intercept Battle’ and ‘Deep-Sea Intercept Battle’ into a single challenging mode. Once players defeat all normal Colossi, they unlock the ‘Critical Point Breakthrough’ system, which allows them to customize the difficulty by adjusting rules such as reducing Inheritor shields and defense or increasing Colossus attack power.

As players progress through higher ‘Critical Point’ levels, they will see increased efficiency in item drops. Completing this content rewards players with ‘Quality Assurance ETA Exchange Tickets,’ which can be used to purchase limited-time items from the season-exclusive shop. The ‘Void Intercept Battle: Extreme’ will be in a balance adjustment period from July 15 to August 20, with its official launch planned for the Season 4 update.

Balance Adjustments for Inheritors

Several Inheritors have also received balance updates. For Serena, her AOE skill ‘Salvation’ has been reworked to improve single-target damage. Two new ‘Transcendent Modules’ have been added: ‘Battlefield Nun,’ designed for single-target aerial combat, and ‘Archangel,’ which increases skill power while airborne.

Blair’s overall basic skills have been improved, including the ability to use skills while firing weapons and an increase in damage output. The existing ‘Firebomb’ module has been revamped into ‘Direct Fire Special’ to improve combat efficiency. Additionally, new fire-based attack skills, ‘Overcook’ and ‘Flare Up,’ have been added to ‘Chef’s Dignity’ and ‘Killer Recipe.’ Improvements have also been made to modules like ‘Reverse Airflow’ and ‘Otherworldly Recipe’ to enhance the fun of fire-skill-based combat.

Weapon Balance Adjustments and New ‘Trigger Modules’

Weapon balance adjustments have also been implemented. ‘Heaven’s Punishment’ now offers enhanced support capabilities, while ‘Ultimate Masterpiece’ deals cold explosion or ice stalactite damage depending on the target hit. Two new ‘Trigger Modules’ have been introduced: ‘Arche Backflow’ and ‘Arche Combustion,’ which create synergy with Blair’s ‘Reverse Airflow’ and Serena’s new ‘Transcendent Module’ ‘Archangel,’ respectively.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

Numerous quality-of-life improvements have been made to enhance gameplay. Rolling now grants temporary immunity to damage and crowd control (CC) effects, and players receive a brief period of invincibility and immunity upon respawning to improve survivability. The cooldown cap for ‘Reactors’ and ‘Arche Tuning’ has been lowered, allowing players to achieve the same cooldowns with less module investment, freeing up slots for build customization. Additionally, the types of three weapon cores have been improved to enhance convenience.

Events to Celebrate the Update

To celebrate the update, Nexon is hosting various events. Through the ‘Assembly Event I’ running until August 6, all players can work together to reach goals and earn rewards such as the ‘Precursor Module Selection Chest.’ Until August 20, the ‘[Growth Support] Inheritor Advance Mission’ will offer items to help with progression, such as ‘Growth Support Chests’ and ‘Inheritor Purchase Voucher Selection Chests,’ to players with a Mastery Rank below 18 who complete specific missions.

During the same period, the ‘Inheritor Firepower Check Mission’ will also be available, allowing players to test the combat capabilities of the rebalanced Serena and Blair while receiving support for their growth.
