Great news for fans of Trader Joe’s, as two new stores are coming to Southern California and bringing more jobs in the process.

In a recent announcement about growth from the popular retail grocery chain, the company said it looked for a new spot for their next location in San Diego and found one in Clairemont Mesa at 3962 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. The address is currently home to a Burlington Coat Factory store. It will be part of the newly renovated Claremont Town Square shopping area.

“We’ve consulted our maps and compass and have found a terrific location for a store in San Diego, CA,” the statement on the company’s website read.

“We are proud to be joining the neighborhood, and to continue our commitment to providing nourishment to the surrounding communities through our Neighborhood Shares program.”

“Our Crew is working hard so we can open our doors,” the statement added. “We’ll continue to post new details about the store and its opening here, so please check back for updates. We look forward to seeing you!”

An application to carry liquor at the spot was also filed recently, the San Diego Union Tribune reported.

The second location is located in Encinitas at 1590 Leucadia Blvd. The building formerly housed the outdoor adventure store REI in the Forum Carlsbad Shopping center. It will be the second location in the Encinitas community, where another one already exists at 115 N. El Camino Real.

As to when shoppers can expect to nab those cute canvas totes at their local store, a spokesperson for the company said information about new locations typically appears on the website between three to six months before the doors officially open, the report noted.

A spokesperson for the company told the California Post they couldn’t say exactly how many jobs the new San Diego stores will bring to the area, sharing that a typical store employees between 30-60 workers.

The Clairemont outdoor shopping complex has been undergoing construction lately to allow for new stores. The changes are all part of a recent move by the city to bring a massive amount of growth to the area by updating the city’s plan, which had not been updated since 1989, per CBS8.

“This plan adds capacity for up to 14,000 new homes that will be thoughtfully located in village areas close to transit, including the neighborhood’s trolley stations,” Mayor Todd Gloria said earlier this year.

Trader Joe’s now operates in 42 states and the District of Columbia. The states currently without a location are Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, West Virginia and Wyoming.

The California Post reached out to the company for more information.
