Controversial Statements and Resurfaced Footage
One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts has found himself in the spotlight again due to resurfaced footage of his appearance on a controversial US conspiracy theorist’s show. The video, which dates back almost two years, has come under renewed scrutiny following recent comments made by Roberts regarding the Bondi Beach terror attack.
Roberts’ remarks about not ruling out the possibility that the December 2023 Bondi Beach incident was a “false-flag operation” have sparked significant debate. Additionally, he has faced criticism for labeling the US government as being “hijacked by globalist parasites,” calling it “the world’s greatest terrorist organization.”
The controversy centers around his appearance on The Alex Jones Show, where he praised the right-wing radio host and conspiracy theorist. Jones is known for his claims that the September 11 attacks were an “inside job” orchestrated by the US government. He has also falsely claimed that the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre was a staged “false flag” operation.
A Conversation with a Controversial Figure
In October 2024, Roberts appeared on Jones’ now-defunct program, InfoWars, for an interview that covered a range of topics, including the pandemic, climate change, and politics. The video resurfaced as Opposition Leader Angus Taylor criticized One Nation and their growing influence, referencing Roberts’ comments and support for Jones.
Taylor stated, “This is not what you do if you want to govern the country,” during an interview on 2GB with Ben Fordham. He further criticized the party, saying, “They do not have a plan for the future of this country. They are a one-person show. They don’t have the team.”
In the 2024 video, Roberts expressed strong support for Jones, urging him to continue his work. “You’ve been fighting a lone battle until fairly recently, and now people recognize that your credibility is very, very high,” Roberts said. He went on to claim that countries like Britain, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia are all ruled by a “UniParty” driven by internationalists and globalists.
He later described Jones as “a beacon of hope around the world” and thanked him for his long-standing efforts. “Thanks to you, Alex, because you have been under the pump for years and years and years, and you’ve been saying the same thing, and now there are many people around the world waking up.”
Defending His Appearance
Roberts has since defended his appearance on the show but admitted he hasn’t done enough research on 9/11 or the Sandy Hook massacre to comment further. “Yes, some of Alex’s views are contentious. That is not a criteria for assessing a topic he or anyone else raises or questions. Instead, I rely on hard data,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
He also emphasized his pride in having been a guest on Jones’ show, stating that it invites people capable of independent research and critical thinking. The transcript from the program remains on Roberts’ website.
Comments on the Bondi Beach Attack
In May, Roberts made headlines when he said he would not rule out the possibility that the Bondi Beach terror attack was a false-flag operation. However, he acknowledged that he does not have the facts to back such a claim. “If I make a statement, it’s got to be backed by fact, and I don’t have the facts yet,” he told social media comedian Lisa Jane Spencer in a YouTube video.
He added, “I’m not ruling it out. I doubt whether there was a false flag, but it was a bit afterwards when the laws came out.” The attack resulted in the deaths of fifteen people, including a 10-year-old girl, and left 40 others injured.
Roberts suggested that governments often use crises to justify new legislation. “There are so many things in the last 30 years, but especially with Covid, that they seem to arrange something and then the laws would come,” he said.

Days later, Roberts reiterated his stance at a press conference alongside One Nation leader Pauline Hanson. “First of all, it’s an absurd proposition,” he said. “Second thing is that I reinforce the fact that I make decisions and statements based on data, and I don’t have data.”
Hanson interjected, “I will answer, because I’ve had this discussion with Senator Roberts. There is no false flag.”
