For those who live in regions with distinct seasons, where outdoor spaces are only usable for part of the year, deck or patio furniture might not be a top priority. However, as the weather warms up, the hunt for functional, durable, and affordable outdoor furniture for entertaining begins. Before heading to the nearest store, consider comparing prices and selections at various retailers like Wayfair, Walmart, Costco, Aldi, or even resale shops for a more eco-friendly option.

When shopping, make sure to read reviews, specifications, and product details to ensure that the pieces you choose are not only affordable but also built to last through outdoor use. If you’re going the green route and opting for donated or recycled patio furniture from a resale or thrift shop, prior information and reviews may be limited. In such cases, ask questions and thoroughly inspect the item before making a purchase. One thing is certain when it comes to thrifted pieces: they are unique.

Online Options: Wayfair and Walmart

For budget-friendly patio furniture online, Amazon might come to mind first, but Wayfair is another excellent option. The site offers a vast selection with highly specific filters, allowing shoppers to narrow down choices based on seat capacity, material, furniture type, and even cushion thickness. This makes it easier to find exactly what you want within your price range.

Prices at Wayfair can vary from under $50 to over $500, but the site runs sales throughout the year, which can help you save. Additionally, the end of the summer season often brings the best deals on outdoor chairs, tables, and sets, as Wayfair discounts unsold items during this time.

Walmart is another great place to start for affordability. Known for its low prices and Rollbacks (temporary price reductions), Walmart has a large inventory that can be easily filtered by price points: $100 and under, $300 and under, $500 and under, or by Rollback. To get the best value, read customer reviews to understand what you’re paying for. Affordable furniture isn’t truly affordable if it needs to be replaced after just one season.

Also, keep in mind that Walmart has a Marketplace for third-party sellers. If you want to shop only the retailer’s products, filter by “Walmart” to ensure you’re getting their own offerings.

Retail Stores: Costco, Aldi, and Resale Shops

Costco members have access to a wide range of outdoor furniture each year, including chairs, loungers, and full patio sets. While Costco’s prices are always competitive, the best deals often come at the end of the summer and into early fall when the warehouse club marks down unsold outdoor patio furniture. This is because they need to clear space for seasonal items like Halloween and Christmas decorations.

Aldi is known for its affordable patio furniture and garden finds, which can be found in the middle aisle of the grocery store. The store carries products from its private labels, Belavi and Kirkton House. You can find items like an outdoor corner sofa set, a folding rocking chair, or the Belavi Wooden Patio Chair, which sells for $49.99—significantly less than similar styles elsewhere. Aldi also offers “ALDI Finds,” which are limited-time savings opportunities, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for these deals.

Resale shops are another option to consider. While patio furniture may not be the best category to thrift, it’s still worth checking out what local stores have available. Thrift stores typically carry gently used items, so you won’t find outdoor furniture that falls apart upon lifting. Since these items are donated, they often sell at a significant discount.
