EL PASO, Texas — Doña Ana Community College (DACC) has announced the appointment of a new vice president for academic affairs. The college shared this news, highlighting the arrival of Michael Pullin, Ph.D., who officially began his role on July 1.
As the vice president of academic affairs, Pullin will oversee the academic operations of the institution. His responsibilities will include managing curriculum development, faculty support, and ensuring the quality of educational programs offered by DACC.
Before joining DACC, Pullin served as dean of academic initiatives at Queensborough Community College in Bayside, New York. Prior to that, he held the position of associate dean of science and wellness at Broward College in Florida. He also spent a decade at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, New Mexico, where he worked both as a faculty member and as a department head.
Pullin’s career has been deeply rooted in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in 1992. He later obtained a master’s degree (1995) and a doctorate (1999) in analytical chemistry from Kent State University.
His extensive experience in academia includes roles in research, teaching, grant writing, public education outreach, and STEM programming. Additionally, he has been involved in early college high school initiatives and curriculum development, which have contributed to his well-rounded administrative background.
DACC Chancellor Mónica Torres, Ph.D., expressed confidence in Pullin’s abilities, stating:
“He brings deep academic background and broad administrative experience to the position. His experience includes research, teaching, grant writing, public education outreach, STEM programming, early college high school, curriculum development, and administration.”
