This one may require a little creativity.

If free Chick-fil-A sounds like a good time, you’ll want to mark your calendars for a very important day happening this month.

Cow Appreciation Day is back on July 14, 2026, and the Georgia-based fast-food restaurant is inviting customers once again to dress head-to-hoof in cow-themed attire in exchange for a free entrée at participating Chick-fil-A restaurants.

From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., guests who show up in cow-inspired outfits can choose from one of the following menu options for breakfast, lunch, or dinner entrées at no cost:

  • Breakfast:
  • Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit (Original) or 4-count Chick-n-Minis.

  • Lunch/Dinner:

  • Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich (Original or Spicy);
  • 8-count Nuggets (Original or Grilled); or
  • 3-count Chick-n-Strips.

  • Kids:

  • A 5-count Nuggets Kids’ Meal (Original or Grilled), which includes a side and drink.

It’s worth noting that the free meal is only available for in-person dining at participating locations and is not eligible for app orders, so if you want to capitalize, you’ll need to get a moo-ve on.

The return of Cow Appreciation Day is part of the company’s “Newstalgia,” a campaign centered around reviving nostalgic flavors, experiences, and traditions with modern twists to celebrate Chick-fil-A’s 80th anniversary.

“This summer is a celebration of the fun, flavors and experiences our Guests love the most and ask us to bring back, year after year,” Khalilah Cooper, Vice President of Brand Strategy, Advertising & Media for Chick-fil-A, Inc., stated in the written release shared with Southern Living.

Whether you go all out with a homemade costume or simply add a few black spots to a white t-shirt, Cow Appreciation Day is sure to be a summer highlight.

Why Cow Appreciation Day Matters

Cow Appreciation Day isn’t just about getting a free meal—it’s a way for Chick-fil-A to connect with its customers through nostalgia and fun. The event encourages guests to embrace their creativity and participate in a unique experience that celebrates the brand’s history.

This year’s event also aligns with Chick-fil-A’s broader strategy to engage with its audience through themed promotions that resonate with different generations. By bringing back events like Cow Appreciation Day, the company reinforces its commitment to creating memorable moments for its customers.

What to Expect on Cow Appreciation Day

On July 14, 2026, customers can expect a variety of activities at participating locations. While the main attraction is the free meal, many restaurants may also host additional events, such as cow-themed decorations, photo opportunities, or even live music.

For those planning to attend, it’s recommended to arrive early to avoid long lines, especially during peak hours. Dressing in cow-themed attire is encouraged, but the focus is on having fun and enjoying the experience.

How to Participate

To take advantage of the free meal, guests must wear clothing that reflects a cow theme. This could include anything from a full costume to simple accessories like a cow print hat or a shirt with black spots.

It’s important to note that the promotion is limited to in-person visits. App orders are not eligible, so customers will need to visit a physical location to claim their free entrée.

The Future of Chick-fil-A’s Campaigns

With the success of Cow Appreciation Day and other similar events, it seems clear that Chick-fil-A is committed to continuing its tradition of blending nostalgia with modern experiences. As the brand celebrates its 80th anniversary, it’s likely that more campaigns like “Newstalgia” will follow, offering customers new ways to engage with the brand.

For now, the message is clear: come dressed in your best cow-themed outfit, enjoy a free meal, and make memories that will last well beyond July 14.
