A man has admitted to murdering another man who was discovered deceased at a property in Grantham. Carl Copus, 55, made the guilty plea during a hearing at a crown court in Loughborough. He was one of three individuals who were scheduled to face trial for the murder of Ian Jackson-Wynch.
Jackson-Wynch, 55, was found with severe injuries at a residence on Greyfriars in the town on January 26. He was declared dead at the scene. The other two men involved, Billy Mitchell, 43, who does not have a fixed address, and Sean Page, 36, from Tamar Court in Grantham, had previously entered not guilty pleas to the murder charge.

After Copus’s guilty plea, Katherine Goddard KC, who was representing the prosecution, stated that no evidence would be presented against Mitchell and Page, who were set to stand trial alongside Copus for the murder. Judge James House KC then issued not guilty verdicts for both Mitchell and Page regarding the murder charge.
Copus was taken into custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on a date yet to be determined.
