Pueblo Suspect Arrested After RV Overturns and Catches Fire

Colorado Springs Incident Involves RV Crash and Fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A suspect was arrested by Pueblo police late Wednesday night after a PIT maneuver caused an RV to roll over and catch on fire.

Pueblo police said that just before 11 p.m., officers were called to a convenience store in the 1400 block of East Monument Avenue regarding reported menacing and kidnapping involving an RV.

Police said as officers arrived, the RV drove away from the area. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The driver refused to stop, police said. Due to the nature of the initial call, officers initiated a pursuit.

A PIT maneuver was executed in the 1100 block of Troy Avenue, near Highway 50, police said. The maneuver caused the RV to roll onto its side.

Police said officers immediately began evacuating the occupants, including a child.

During the process, police said the RV was caught on fire. All occupants were removed with no injuries.

Details About the Arrested Individual

Police identified the driver as John Delira-Alires. He was taken into custody and booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center on charges of second-degree kidnapping, vehicular eluding, child abuse, reckless driving, restraining order violation and three felony warrants.

According to court records Thursday, Delira-Alires is being held in jail without bond.
