Bond Hearing for Murder Suspect Denied

A Rankin County judge has denied bond for one of six suspects charged in the death of a former football player. Dominick Sanabria, who is facing murder charges in the June 5 shooting of Idarrious Bowie, was denied bail during a recent hearing. The decision was made by Judge David Morrow Jr., after attorneys for Sanabria called his grandmother to testify in support of their request for bond.

Bowie, also known as “DD,” was shot multiple times on Adams Road after visiting his infant son. According to investigators, the incident occurred following a confrontation that led to fatal consequences.

Details of the Shooting

Investigator Justin Davis from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office testified that Bowie was shot in the arm, leg, and back. Davis identified Ladarious Harrison, another suspect charged with murder, as the person believed to have fired the shots. According to Davis, both Harrison and Sanabria went to a home where a party was taking place to purchase marijuana. When Bowie entered the scene and saw weapons, he told Harrison and Sanabria to remove the guns from the area. This statement led to an argument and a struggle over the firearms.

Sanabria was carrying an AR-15-style rifle “because he could,” as Davis noted. During the tussle, the rifle, which was in Sanabria’s pants, discharged. Although Sanabria was not injured, the bullet left a hole in his pants.

Lack of Intervention

Although Sanabria did not fire the shots that killed Bowie, Davis and prosecutors stated that he did not attempt to stop the violence or call the police. Additionally, Sanabria did not provide any assistance after the shooting. Davis emphasized that Sanabria’s actions were a contributing factor in Bowie’s death.

“I believe his actions are a contributing factor as to why Mr. Bowie is not with us today,” Davis said.

Statements from the Suspects

A prosecutor revealed that in a phone call from jail, Harrison claimed that if it were not for Sanabria, he would not have shot and killed Bowie. This statement highlights the complex dynamics between the suspects and the events that led to the tragic outcome.

The case against Sanabria has now been referred to a Rankin County grand jury for further consideration.
