Caldwell Parish

In Caldwell Parish, voters were presented with two renewal proposals for the Consolidated School District No. 1. These proposals aimed to maintain current property tax rates from 2027 through 2036.

  • Proposition 1 (5.39 mills): This proposal would continue a tax expected to raise about $417,600 per year for school building construction, improvements, maintenance, and operations.
  • Result: Passed

  • Proposition 2 (11.32 mills): This proposal would continue a tax expected to raise about $877,100 per year to support public elementary and secondary schools.

Concordia Parish

Voters in Concordia Parish considered one parishwide renewal that would keep a 10-mill property tax in place from 2028 through 2037.

  • Parishwide Proposition (10 mills): This tax was expected to raise about $1,775,000 per year for drainage projects and public buildings/facilities, including needed equipment and materials.

Jackson Parish

Jackson Parish saw two parishwide measures related to property taxes supporting schools and recreation.

  • Consolidated School District No. 1 (5.98 mills): This tax was expected to raise about $1,168,000 per year to support the public school system. The rate reflected a 0.52-mill increase due to reappraisal.

Lincoln Parish

In Lincoln Parish, voters considered a School Board measure to continue a 2.5% sales and use tax beginning October 1, 2026.

  • School Board Proposition (2.5%): This tax was expected to raise about $31.68 million per year for School Board needs, including teacher/staff pay and benefits, school improvements, operations and maintenance, campus security, instructional materials, and student services/curriculum support.

Morehouse Parish

Morehouse Parish voters considered a School Board proposal allowing School District No. A (parishwide) to issue up to $37.19 million in bonds to fund school construction and upgrades.

  • Bond Proposition ($37.19M, up to 25 years): This would finance capital improvements for schools and related facilities, including equipment and furnishings, guided by the district’s Capital Improvement Plan approved March 3, 2026.
  • Result: Failed

Ouachita Parish

Ouachita Parish voters considered three renewals tied to law enforcement, jail operations, and city funding.

  • Law Enforcement District (0.6% sales tax, 10 years): This would renew a sheriff’s department sales tax from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2036, expected to raise about $7,047,811 per year for operations, equipment, and staffing for the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department.
  • Result: Passed

  • Parishwide jail tax (9.2 mills, 5 years): This would renew a property tax from 2027 through 2031, expected to raise about $13 million per year for the Police Jury’s jail obligations and inmate costs at the Ouachita Correctional Center, with remaining funds supporting Sheriff’s Office expenses.

  • Result: Passed

  • West Monroe sales tax (1%, 10 years): This would renew a city sales tax starting January 1, 2027, expected to raise about $9.8 million per year. The city would split the money, with 25% going to a General Fund special account.

  • Result: Passed

Tensas Parish

Tensas Parish voters considered four renewals across the parish, including two parishwide property taxes, one in the Village of Waterproof, and one for the local drainage district.

  • Parishwide Prop. 1 (3.51 mills, 10 years): This tax would continue from 2027 through 2036, expected to raise about $232,200 per year for the Tensas Public Health Unit, with any extra used for repairs and upkeep of parish-owned buildings. The rate reflected a 0.15-mill increase due to reappraisal.
  • Result: Passed

  • Parishwide Prop. 2 (5.09 mills, 10 years): This tax would continue from 2027 through 2036, expected to raise about $336,800 per year to support and maintain the Tensas Parish Library. The rate reflected a 0.22-mill increase due to reappraisal.

  • Village of Waterproof (14 mills, 10 years): This tax would continue from 2027 through 2036, expected to raise about $15,500 per year for any legal village purpose.

  • Result: Passed

  • Gravity Drainage District No. 1 (10.84 mills, 10 years): This tax would continue from 2027 through 2036, expected to raise about $95,700 per year for drainage construction, improvements, and maintenance. The rate reflected a 0.88-mill increase due to reappraisal.

Winn Parish

Winn Parish voters considered a proposal for Consolidated School District No. 12 to issue up to $23 million in bonds to pay for major school construction and upgrades.

  • Bond Proposition ($23M, up to 20 years): This would fund capital projects across the district, including a new gym at Winnfield Senior High School and renovations plus additional classrooms at Winnfield Middle School, along with needed equipment and furnishings.
