New Restaurants Shaping Miami’s Dining Scene

Miami’s dining scene continues to evolve, with several new restaurants making their mark across the city. From Brickell to Coral Gables and beyond, these openings bring a variety of culinary experiences, from caviar-focused tasting menus to the revival of a South Beach icon. Here are six notable additions to the local food landscape.

Ockap Caviar & Cuisine

Located in Brickell, Ockap Caviar & Cuisine is a unique dining experience that features caviar in every dish. Created by Paris-based Ducasse Conseil, this restaurant ensures that each course includes at least 10 grams of caviar, with 20 grams on mains and pastas. The menu offers a five-course meal with 40 grams of Ossetra caviar for $160 per person, or a seven-course meal with 50 grams for $205. The kitchen is led by Spanish-born chef Carlos Consuegra Graino, who has worked under renowned chefs like Daniel Boulud and José Andrés.

Grand Public Kitchen + Bar

Grand Public Kitchen + Bar has taken over the former Planta Queen space in Coconut Grove. This 7,400-square-foot establishment is run by Toronto hospitality veterans Matthew Tsoumaris and Ryan Bassels. Chef Leo Pablo, known for his work with Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Michael Mina, and Joël Robuchon, oversees a contemporary American menu. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, along with a late-night cocktail program, making it a versatile spot for different occasions.

Stand

In Coral Gables, the team behind the Michelin-starred restaurant Shingo has opened a new Japanese café called Stand on Miracle Mile. Chef Shingo Akikuni and partner Kenzie Motai drew inspiration from Tokyo’s cafés, creating a space that serves breakfast and lunch. The kitchen is led by chef de cuisine Lania Andrade, with plans to introduce an evening izakaya component in the fall.

Cantina Leon

Cantina Leon is a two-level Mexican restaurant located at The Plaza Coral Gables. With a central bar, main dining room, VIP area, and a tequila and mezcal tasting room, this establishment offers a comprehensive dining experience. The menu, created by Mexican-born owner and chef Gerardo B. De Negri and chef de cuisine Jorge Delgadillo, features classic dishes like enchiladas and tacos alongside wood-grilled meats and raw bar specialties. A sister café, Mercadito Cantina Leon, serves breakfast, coffee, tacos, and grab-and-go items.

China Grill

China Grill, a historic South Beach restaurant, has made a comeback at Bal Harbour Shops. Originally opened in 1995 and closed in 2012, the restaurant has returned with its signature dishes such as lobster pancakes and lamb spare ribs, along with new items like a black and gold black cod dumpling and a Singapore 17 vegetable salad. The 160-seat restaurant offers a nostalgic yet fresh take on Chinese cuisine.

Eos Garden

Eos Garden, named after the Greek goddess of dawn, is a Mediterranean restaurant located at the Water Pump House in Miami. Run by hospitality veteran Ilyas Ortatepe and chef Halit Avuka, the menu blends Greek, Turkish, Anatolian, and Levantine influences. Dishes include mezze, grilled octopus, Adana lamb kebab, and whole sea bass, complemented by a wine list featuring Turkish bottles. The historic building, constructed in 1923, adds a unique backdrop to the dining experience.
