WALDO, Fla. (WCJB) – A man from Alachua County is now facing serious criminal charges after deputies reported that he threatened seven individuals with a firearm during a boating trip on Friday night at Lake Alto. Among those targeted were four minors.

According to witness accounts, 27-year-old Teddy Stanze was consuming alcohol and became increasingly upset after a woman left a party held at the lake. The situation escalated when Stanze attempted to board a pontoon boat despite being asked to leave by other guests.

Witnesses claimed that Stanze then instructed one of his children to retrieve a gun from his vehicle. The child reportedly obtained the weapon and handed it over to Stanze, who then pointed the firearm at the other guests and their children.

Stanze allegedly made a chilling statement to the group, threatening to “blow their heads off,” as reported by witnesses.

Currently, Stanze is being held in custody with a $120,000 bond set for his release. This incident has raised significant concerns about public safety and the potential dangers associated with the presence of firearms in social settings, particularly involving minors.

Law enforcement officials are likely to be investigating further to determine the full extent of the events that transpired and whether any additional charges may be filed. The community is also likely to be concerned about the safety of public areas like Lake Alto, where such incidents could occur.

Community Response

Local residents and community leaders may call for increased awareness and education regarding the responsible use of firearms, especially in social settings.
