A Historic Landmark Faces the End of an Era

After more than five decades of operation, the Langhorne Hotel is preparing to close its doors for good on July 18. This decision marks the end of a long and storied chapter in the history of this iconic establishment. The hotel has stood at the corner of Maple and Bellevue avenues since 1704, making it one of the oldest continuously operated inns in Bucks County. Its rich history and deep roots in the community have made it more than just a place to stay or dine—it has been a gathering spot for generations.

A Family Legacy

The Asta family took ownership of the property in August 1972, and under their stewardship, the Langhorne Hotel evolved into a beloved community hub. Over the years, it became a place where neighbors celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and everyday reunions over shared meals. The restaurant and tavern were not just about food—they were about connection, tradition, and the bonds that tie people together.

The family announced the closure through social media, sharing their reflections on what the past 54 years had meant to the town. They expressed that the decision was not an easy one, as the hotel had been more than just a business. It had been a place where friendships were formed, families celebrated milestones, and visitors became part of the community.

One Last Party

Although the property has been sold and the sale has been in the works for months, the Asta family had intended to keep running the inn until the deal officially closed. As a result, the Langhorne Hotel will serve its final meals on July 18. The following night, on July 19, the hotel will host a special event for the community—a final farewell party that promises to be a memorable celebration of its legacy.

A Hidden Piece of History

Throughout the years, the Asta family worked to restore and renovate the historic space while preserving its original character. During these efforts, they uncovered an original arched walk-in fireplace that had been hidden behind a wall for decades. Now restored and exposed, this architectural gem serves as the centerpiece of the first-floor dining room. It stands as a testament to the hotel’s long and storied past, offering guests a glimpse into the building’s rich history.

A Community Treasure

The Langhorne Hotel has played a vital role in the fabric of the local community. From its founding in 1704 to its recent closure, it has been a constant presence, welcoming visitors and residents alike. Its unique charm, historical significance, and warm hospitality have made it a cherished landmark. As the final days approach, the community is coming together to honor the legacy of this remarkable establishment.
