KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Algeria and Austria faced off in a Group Stage Match on Saturday night at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium. This game marked the fourth and final Group Stage match in Kansas City before the stadium hosts a Round of 32 match, as well as a Quarterfinal bout in the knockout stage.

The match also highlighted the Algerian team, which has been warmly welcomed and embraced by the people of Lawrence, Kansas, located west of the KC metro. The enthusiasm from fans was evident throughout the event, showcasing the global appeal of the tournament.

While the focus was on the match itself, the presence of the Austrian fans was also notable. FOX4 caught up with an Austrian fan on Friday after their arrival in Kansas City.

“We got here yesterday from Vienna. We landed in Kansas around 4, and we are very excited,” said Filip Struzik. “I’ve been to the U.S., but the people here are way different than other parts of the U.S. I visited the East Coast before, but never here. It’s been so fun.”

The experience of the Austrian fans reflected the unique atmosphere of the event, where international visitors were able to immerse themselves in the local culture while enjoying the excitement of the tournament.
