WACO, Texas – One day after celebrating the freedom that defines America, the McLennan County Republican Women shifted their focus to those who safeguard it. The event took place at the Veterans One Stop and offered veterans and their families a free meal, along with games and prizes. It was a gesture of appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who have served in the military.
Rebecca Eubank, a veteran and the 1st Vice President of the McLennan County Republican Women, emphasized the importance of recognizing the commitment of service members.
“They deserve it. I mean, no one forced them to do what they are doing. They volunteered to put their life on the line for this country,” she said.
The gathering served as a platform to highlight the contributions and sacrifices of local heroes. A live performance by an all-veteran band added to the atmosphere of gratitude and respect.
Gwen Johnson, the volunteer coordinator at Veterans One Stop, expressed her sentiments about the event.
“Today we are honoring them. Today we are saying thank you for the service. Thank you for the time you had to leave your country and your family to go out and protect our families,” she stated.
