New Magic: The Gathering Sets for 2027 Revealed
Wizards of the Coast has officially announced the full lineup of in-universe Magic: The Gathering sets for 2027, along with the complete schedule for MagicCon 2027. The details were unveiled during the MagicCon Preview Panel at MagicCon: Amsterdam 2026. This preview provided fans with an early look at the upcoming sets and the global events planned for the following year. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what was revealed.
Nauctis: The Sunken Realm

The first in-universe set of 2027 is Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, which marks Magic’s first fully underwater plane. This set introduces players to a rich world filled with merfolk, seals, homarids, and other aquatic creatures. Additionally, players will encounter deities who govern the ocean currents.
The story of Nauctis revolves around two warring kingdoms and unlikely heroes who must rise to save their home from impending threats. Players will embark on adventures that bring them face-to-face with fearsome creatures lurking beneath the surface.

Kamigawa: Titanbreach

Magic’s second in-universe set of 2027 takes players back to the plane of Kamigawa with Kamigawa: Titanbreach. This set centers around a conflict between the planes of Kamigawa and Ikoria.
An Omenpath opens above Kamigawa’s neon-lit city of Towashi, allowing a mass of Ikorian creatures to crash into the plane. The people of Kamigawa must band together to stop the monsters threatening their home.
This set brings two iconic Magic planes into conflict, pitting Kamigawa’s mecha against the monstrous creatures of Ikoria.

Zhalfir

The final in-universe set of 2027 is Zhalfir, which features the kingdom of Zhalfir reentering the Multiverse as its own plane. This set explores Zhalfir’s vibrant magic and storied history as its people find their place in the Multiverse.
Teferi Akosa, a native of Zhalfir, will also appear in the set. His return introduces a new generation of players to Magic’s master of chronomancy. Players will discover new forms of magic and cards inspired by Magic’s take on the afrofantasy genre. The set blends African cultural influences with Magic’s fantasy identity, creating a unique afrofantasy world.

MagicCon 2027 Dates and Locations Revealed

Wizards of the Coast will expand MagicCon to four global events in 2027. The schedule includes stops in major cities around the world:

- MagicCon: Las Vegas – August 27–29, 2027
