EUFAULA, Okla. — A long-awaited change has arrived in the Eufaula community. After a decade without a local hospital, residents now have access to essential healthcare services once again. Saint Francis Eufaula officially opened its doors this month, bringing emergency care and other critical medical services back to the area.

The reopening of the hospital marks a significant milestone for the community. According to Collin Henry, Senior Vice President of Development at Saint Francis Health System, it is rare for a rural area to regain access to healthcare after it has been lost. “Bringing emergency care back to Eufaula isn’t just about opening doors,” he said. “It’s about restoring peace of mind and ensuring families know help is close when they need it most.”

Saint Francis Eufaula offers a wide range of services, including 24/7 care, emergency services, onsite laboratory testing, imaging services, stabilization and treatment for serious illnesses and injuries, direct access to specialists, and coordinated transfers for inpatient, surgical, trauma, and specialty care. The facility aims to provide comprehensive healthcare options that were previously unavailable in the region.

The hospital officially opened on July 11 at 1 p.m. Saint Francis Health System emphasized that this development strengthens its commitment to quality rural healthcare. The decision to open the facility reflects the organization’s dedication to supporting communities that may otherwise struggle with limited medical resources.

Dr. Cliff Robertson, President and CEO of Saint Francis Health System, highlighted the importance of the hospital’s return to Eufaula. “As hospitals across the country face difficult financial realities, Saint Francis is choosing to invest in rural Oklahoma,” he said. “We are proud to restore this lifeline to Eufaula, and in doing so, reaffirm our commitment to the people who call this community home.”

This new hospital not only provides immediate benefits to residents but also contributes to the long-term stability of the region. By offering essential medical services locally, the hospital reduces the need for patients to travel long distances for care, which can be both time-consuming and costly. Additionally, the presence of a full-service hospital can attract more businesses and professionals to the area, further supporting economic growth.

The hospital’s services include:

  • 24/7 availability for urgent and non-urgent care
  • Emergency services for life-threatening conditions
  • Onsite laboratory services for quick diagnosis
  • Imaging services such as X-rays and ultrasounds
  • Stabilization and treatment for severe injuries or illnesses
  • Direct access to specialists for referrals and consultations
  • Coordinated transfers for advanced care when needed

With these services, Saint Francis Eufaula is positioned to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community. The hospital also serves as a vital resource for local healthcare providers, offering support and collaboration to ensure patients receive the best possible care.

The reopening of the hospital is a testament to the resilience and determination of the Eufaula community. It represents a step forward in addressing the challenges of rural healthcare and highlights the importance of investing in underserved areas. As the hospital continues to operate and grow, it will play a crucial role in improving the health and well-being of residents for years to come.
