New Market and Bridgewater Celebrate Independence Day Together

NEW MARKET & BRIDGEWATER, Va. (WHSV) – Families came together at New Market Community Park on Thursday afternoon to kick off their Independence Day festivities. The annual event brought the community together with a variety of activities and entertainment.
The celebration included live music, food trucks, and fun for kids with bounce houses and a petting zoo. The New Market Rotary Club also provided free watermelon, adding a traditional touch to the day. Organizers emphasized that the event is all about bringing neighbors together and creating a sense of unity.
“My favorite part of every event is that moment when we get to step back during the midst of the event and everybody’s having a great time,” said Savannah Smith, events and marketing director for New Market. “This committee puts in so much time in partnership with the town to work with our vendors to get everybody here. So it really is just the best feeling to have everybody out here enjoying the celebration.”
The day’s festivities came to a close with a spectacular fireworks show at New Market Community Park, lighting up the sky and marking the start of the holiday weekend.
Bridgewater celebrates Eve of Independence
In Bridgewater, the town’s annual Eve of Independence event took place at Generations Park. The celebration featured live music, food trucks, and family-friendly activities. Fireworks were launched from the Bridgewater Community Center, adding a grand finale to the evening.
The events in both New Market and Bridgewater highlighted the spirit of community and the importance of coming together to celebrate freedom and togetherness. From live performances to interactive activities, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
